Your matters stay yours.
This policy explains what WritOnline collects when you use writonline.in and the WritOnline workspace, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
WritOnline is operated by [Company legal name], a company incorporated in India (“WritOnline”, “we”). We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here.
What we collect
Account details: your name, email, mobile number, designation, enrolment number, State Bar Council, chambers and office address.
Matter content: the documents, facts, drafts, translations and files you upload or create.
Usage data: pages visited, features used, device and browser information, and approximate location from your IP address.
Payment data: processed by our payment partner. We see only the last four digits and the status of a payment.
Court Feed preferences: the courts and topics you follow and the email you subscribe with.
How we use it
To provide the service: drafting, research, translation, legal documents, bookmarking and settlement.
To put your name, enrolment details and address into the signature blocks of documents you draft.
To support you when you ask, keep the service secure, and send the emails you have chosen to receive.
To improve WritOnline using aggregated, de-identified usage data.
Your matter content and AI
Your matter content is processed by our own models and by vetted sub-processors under written contracts, only to produce the output you asked for.
We do not use your matter content to train shared or third-party models without your explicit consent.
Every AI-produced part of a document is labelled, and you review it before anything leaves the workspace.
Storage, security and retention
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to people who need it.
Matter content is kept while your account is active. When you delete a matter or close your account, we delete it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, nominate someone to act for you, and raise a grievance.
Write to our Grievance Officer at privacy@writonline.in. We respond within the time the law allows.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we will email you and show a notice in the workspace before it takes effect.
